Physical Therapy Depending on
the nature of the injuries, physical therapy may be used to speed the recovery.
We offer the following types of therapy:
Electrical Muscle
Stimulation
Ultrasound
Intersegmental
Traction Diathermy
Diversified Adjustment
A manual adjustment used to correct misaligned or subluxated spinal segments of
the neck and back. After locating the misaligned vertebrae, the chiropractor
applies gentle pressure and repositions the vertebrae. Adjustments help restore
alignment, improve mobility, and relieve pain and stiffness.

Gonstead Used to locate
misalignments in the spinal column and then to adjust the segment back into
place manually, removing the subluxation. By applying the Gonstead adjustment
to the back, the pressure is removed from the nerve while joint and nerve
function is restored. For more information, refer to the
Gonstead Clinical Studies Society.

Upper Cervical Used to correct
atlas and upper cervical subluxations (the upper neck). Joint displacements are
first measured by taking an X-ray, then light force is applied to correct the
misalignments. For more information, refer to the
National Upper Cervical Chiropractic
Association (NUCCA).

Toftness Diagnostic method that
uses a device called the Toftness Radiation Detector to locate subluxated
vertebrae and pinched nerves, which are then corrected using spinal
adjustments. For more information, refer to the
Toftness Foundation
for the Advancement of Chiropractic Research.

SOT (sacro-occipital technique)
Diagnostic and treatment method used to improve the circulation of the
cerebrospinal fluid by analyzing and correcting sacral and cranial distortions.
For more information, refer to
Sacro Occipital Research Society
International.

Kinesiology Method used to
diagnose and correct misalignments by testing muscle strength. This technique
is used in conjunction with other exams to evaluate the patient's overall
condition.

Toggle Recoil
An adjustment primarily applied to the upper cervical area in which the
chiropractor applies a sudden pressure to the subluxation, followed by a quick
withdrawl.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation Uses
an electrical current to involuntarily contract the muscle, which helps
decrease muscle spasms and encourage healing. This is helpful for injured or
spastic muscles, in which forced exercise could further injure the muscle.

Ultrasound May be used to treat
muscoskeletal problems, such as muscle spasms, adhesions, and tendon and
ligament injuries. Ultrasound therapy uses high frequency sound waves to create
vibration in the muscle. This vibration massages the muscle and enables it to
eliminate waste products caused by the tissue trauma.

Intersegmental Traction Used to
treat spinal injuries by improving the mobility and circulation in the joints
of the spine. The patient lies on a bench table with rollers that massage the
spine, stretching spinal joints.

Diathermy A form of shortwave
electro-magnetic energy used to radiate heat and relax the muscles. It can help
increase range of motion, reduce muscle spasms and cramping, and make movement
and stretching less painful.
